Press Releases Marcia Gay Harden, star of Home, steals the show at 2009 Tony Awards
June 9, 2009 Thousand Oaks, CA- monterey media is pleased to announce that Marcia Gay Harden, star of monterey media's upcoming release Home, won the 2009 Lead Actress Tony Award for her performance in the year's Best Play award winner "God of Carnage." The 63rd annual awards ceremony took place this past weekend at Radio City Music Hall.
Articulate, poised and every bit the queen of the red carpet, Marcia Gay Harden was stunningly chic in an emerald green mermaid gown by Carmen Marc Valvo. Clutching her Tony for lead actress in a play, Marcia Gay Harden noted there were similarities between the role for which she won the Tony and the one for which she won the Oscar in Pollock. "I've played women who fight with their husband a lot, and I've been rewarded for it!" she said. "I'll have to remind my husband of that, the next time we get in a fight." "Marcia Gay Harden's extraordinary talent is again on display in (the) poignant film Home& touching& a rich and rewarding experience... beautifully filmed." -ThePeoplesCritic.com The DVD release of Home is set for June 23rd. This beautifully crafted film takes us into the world of Inga (Academy Award® winner Marcia Gay Harden), who realizes that many things in her life are coming full circle. Her crumbling marriage is a stark contrast to her relationship with her 8-year-old daughter, (Eulala Scheel, Ms. Harden's real life daughter) with whom she shares her hopes, fears and inner-most thoughts and by day their lives seem magical, full of cloud watching, kite flying and lazy summer drives. By weaving optimism into her life's story it is in her own poetic writing that she hears the echo of her mother's journey and experiences the revelation that allows her own transformation. Home has been exalted as "The American film that took my breath away... Harden's career best performance... unforgettably powerful." -Movie City News Marcia Gay Harden made her Broadway debut in Tony Kushner's "Angels in America," for which she received a Tony Award® nomination, and a Drama Desk and Theatre World Award. She performed in Sam Shepard's "Sympatico" at the Public with Ed Harris, and in David Rabe's "Those the River Keeps" with Anthony Lapaglia. In Central Park, she played Masha in "The Seagull" directed by Mike Nichols, sharing the stage with Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Natalie Portman. She received an Academy Award® for her performance in Pollock and an Academy Award® nomination for Mystic River.
