Bringing More Green to the Island: Nobelity

May 25, 2006, Thousand Oaks, CA- monterey media is proud to announce that award winning journalist Turk Pipkin’s new timely motion picture, “Nobelity” has been invited to the prestigious 2006 Maui Film Festival. Maui Digital Skydome will present a screening on Friday, June 16th at 8:00 pm and the Castle Theater will be hosting a second screening Saturday, June 17th at 2:00 pm. Turk Pipkin and Producer Christy Pipkin will be available for interviews on these dates.

Nobelity combines the insights of nine distinguished Nobel Laureates with a first-person view of world problems and the children who are most affected by them. Follow award-winning filmmaker Turk Pipkin's expedition to find answers to the world’s toughest questions as he travels across the United States, and in France, England, India and Africa. The Distinguished Laureates of Nobelity include: Desmond Tutu (Nobel Peace Prize, 1984.) and Sir Joseph Rotblat, (Nuclear Physicist & Disarmament Activist - Nobel Peace Prize, 1995). Tutu talks about the power of love and forgiveness, and the human capacity to accomplish great things; Rotblat is a contemporary of Einstein, who fifty years ago co-signed a letter with Rotblat to the world calling for an end to nuclear proliferation.

In today’s fast-paced, environmentally challenged and industrially driven world, being unconcerned with the gifts of our environment is all too conveniently put aside as we pursue our daily course. Seeking solutions to the world’s most daunting problems, Pipkin says of his personal journey, “Again and again I learned that the world’s problems are much larger than I’d thought, but I was also learning that there is much reason for hope. The answers are there, but we have to seek them out and act on them in a much more proactive fashion.”

Esquire magazine raves, “Remarkable new film…Nobelity leaves you wanting more and thinking that if Pipkin's nine were in charge, we would leave a better world indeed.”
