GIRL ON THE TRAIN PICKED UP BY MONTEREY MEDIA
Los Angeles, CA (November 21, 2013) - monterey media is proud to announce the acquisition of all United States & Canada rights to Larry Brand's (Christina , Halloween: Resurrection, writer of A Perfect Man) compelling film noir Girl on the Train, starring Henry Ian Cusick (Possession, "Lost" and co-starring in CW's "The Hundred"), Nicki Aycox (The X Files: I Want to Believe, Perfect Stranger, "Dark Blue," "Cold Case") and Stephen Lang (Avatar, and reprising his lead role in Avatar 2 & 3, Conan the Barbarian, The Men Who Stare at Goats). The deal was concluded between monterey's Scott Mansfield and Ross Satterwhite on behalf of the film. Girl on the Train is an Official Selection and Jury Award Winner of Best Screenplay at this year's Napa Valley Film Festival. monterey plans a theatrical release in the spring of 2014.
"We are excited to be partnering with monterey. They have a long history of bringing high quality films to market, and have a very talented team. It's a great fit for The Girl on the Train," says Exec. Producer Ross Satterwhite.
"After I saw Girl on the Train in the beautiful State Theatre in Traverse City, Michigan, I felt a responsibility to get this film in theaters. It was beautiful, evocative, and spine-tingling. I thought about who might share my passion, and monterey media came to mind. Girl on the Train needed a thoughtful and well-tended distribution plan. I connected the dots and felt producer Rebecca Reynolds and distributor Jere-Rae Mansfield would make a great team to get Girl on the Train on screens around the country. I felt Mansfield was wise and seasoned with success to bring audiences to the film. Sometimes you have to push the rock up the hill, but in this case, it moved quickly - it was a simple introduction of two women who are confident in their experience,"
says Kathleen Glynn (Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Capitalism: A Love Story)
"We were fortunate to get such a strong, talented cast on the strength of Larry Brand's intriguing script." - Rebecca Reynolds, 8180 Films. "I called it the script you had to read twice, because of all the overlapping layers of reality versus fiction."
"I was captivated from the first moment I saw it and couldn't wait to include this film in our 2014 theatrical line up," says Jere Rae-Mansfield, Managing Partner, monterey media.
