"A HAUNTINGLY POETIC IMPRESSION. WE HAVE A FAIRLY GOOD IDEA OF WHERE THIS IS ALL LIKELY HEADED, BUT THE STURDY PERFORMANCES, ALSO INCLUDING AN EFFECTIVE RUBY MODINE (MATTHEW’S DAUGHTER) AS A GOTH GAL PAL AND FRANCO AS A CONCERNED ENGLISH TEACHER, BUILD ON AN AUTHENTICITY THAT COMES WITH THE CASTING OF DILLON, WHO APPEARED IN "BOYHOOD"... IT STILL ADDS SOMETHING RATHER AFFECTING, HOWEVER BRIEF, TO THE ADOLESCENT ANGST PLAYBOOK."
- LOS ANGELES TIMES

"EMOTIONALLY RAW, HITS ITS AUDIENCE LIKE A TIDAL WAVE. MEMORIA SHINES AS ONE OF THE MORE EFFECTIVE COMING OF AGE FILMS OF RECENT MEMORY. EXECUTED WITH INTELLIGENCE AND GUTS, THE FILM LEAVES A STRONG IMPRESSION ON AUDIENCES THAT WILL NOT QUICKLY BE FORGOTTEN. SAM DILLON DELIVERS A HAUNTING PERFORMANCE"
- MATT CONWAY, THE YOUNG FOLKS

"POIGNANT AND HAUNTING, NINA LJETI AND VLADIMIR DE FONTENAY HAVE CREATED A MASTERPIECE OF HUMAN PSYCHE! THIS IS ONE YOU'LL WATCH OVER AND OVER AND JUST KEEP FINDING MORE!"
- PASTE MAGAZINE

"THOMAS MANN, BO MITCHELL AND KEITH STANFIELD … ARE SCARY-BELIEVABLE AS COOL SKATER KIDS WITH A PENCHANT FOR DESTROYING ONE ANOTHER'S SELF-ESTEEM. MEMORIA IS A SMALL FILM WITH A LASTING IMPACT. IT'S NOT NECESSARILY A MOVIE TO BE ENJOYED, BUT A MOVIE TO UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY WE’RE GETTING THESE DISCONNECTED KIDS WHO DO TERRIBLE THINGS. GO HOME AND HUG YOUR KIDS, PLEASE."
- LA WEEKLY

"EMOTIONALLY AFFECTING. THEY CAPTURE THE ENNUI, FRUSTRATION AND KINETIC ENERGY OF AMERICAN ADOLESCENCE... POIGNANT. IT DESERVES A PLACE AMONG SOME OF THE BEST IN THE "TROUBLED TEEN" GENRE."
- AUSTIN360

"3 STARS. INTRIGUING. GRASPING THE PAINS OF ADOLESCENCE… IT'S A PICTURE THAT GETS THE PAIN OF THESE RAW YEARS, WHICH IS NO SMALL ACCOMPLISHMENT."
- BLU-RAY.COM

Synopsis

Based on James Franco’s “Palo Alto Stories” and “A California Childhood”, Ivan Cohen is a young boy living in Palo Alto, California. Unsatisfied by his slacker group of friends, his love for a girl who doesn’t know he exists, and a dysfunctional family life, he is struggling to find his place in the world.

Memoria raises questions about the memories we choose to keep, the ones we try desperately to forget, and the ones we use as fuel to create our future.
